ROTOPROJECTOR 4.
a continuation of attempts to rearrange / unravel / displace / translate film into space.
the means for this feat is a two-axial rotating platform. the first axis of rotation is that of the observer (parallel to an imagined horizon) and the second is the axis of the lens.
in the first step a camera is mounted on to the machine, the speeds of rotation programmed in and the machine set in motion. after the footage is shot, the camera is replaced by the projector that projects the same footage.
as the movement of the camera is the same as the movement of the projector, the motions cancel each other out. the horizon stays horizontal, north in the footage stays on the north wall of the space.
the filming location is a particular higschool playground in klaićeva street, zagreb, chosen as an hommage to tom gotovac and his film “glenn miller” and more specifically to the constructor of his panning camera stand - slobodan mudri.
